Bloomfield police arrest suspect in fatal stabbing
FARMINGTON — A 24-year-old woman is accused of second-degree murder after admitting to fatally stabbing a woman in Bloomfield Sunday night.
Cecilia Trujillo was arrested and accused of a second-degree felony count of murder after she allegedly stabbed a 21-year-old Bloomfield woman multiple times, according to a Bloomfield Police Department press release.
The victim was found deceased with multiple stab wounds to her neck after officers were dispatched around 6:20 p.m. Sunday to the 2100 block of E. Blanco Blvd. on reports of an unattended death
One of the officers first to arrive on scene found the deceased woman and quickly located Trujillo, who was found with a knife on her, according to the press release.
Trujillo was transported from the scene to the Bloomfield Police Department where she was interviewed by a detective.
She told the detective she stabbed the victim after an altercation between the two of them occurred, according to the press release.
Trujillo was transported to the San Juan County Adult Detention Center for a parole violation and was later charged with second-degree murder.
The Bloomfield Police Department thanked the San Juan County Sheriff's Office for assistance in the investigation, the press release states.
