November, the month that we are to remember what we are thankful for and I am thankful for so many things each and every day. I hope you will take the time to make a list of what you are thankful for.

This is also the month that we remember the ones that are less fortunate then we are and we start buying a few extra canned goods to help support our local food drives.  If you do support them, thank you and please know that you are helping make someone’s day better.

We are going to “Jolt Your Jingle” at the Farmington Chamber of Commerce Christmas parade which will be held on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 5:45 p.m. on Main Street. There will be bands, floats, and most importantly, Santa Claus.  Come out and enjoy the beginning of the Holiday Season.  This parade is sponsored by our friends Northern Edge Navajo Casino, WPX Energy and Farmers Insurance-Nate Duckett.

Something fun that we are doing at the Chamber is we want to see how your business is getting into the Christmas spirit. If you have decorated your business, whether it is on the inside or outside, we want to see it and share it with everyone else.

Each week in the Chamber’s newsletter and Community Roundup we will share pictures of how our businesses are celebrating the holiday season.  Email your pictures to chamber@gofarmington.com; please feel free to include pictures of your staff.

We also want to remind you to shop local.  I know you have heard it before, but shopping local helps our community in so many different ways.

When you shop local you keep your tax dollars right here in our community helping to pay for services like fire and police, roads and other services our City provides.  It also helps keep people right here employed.
